Although I feel like a stuck record at the moment in terms of the number of conversations I am having with clients about GDPR, there seems to be a definite settling of opinion on the matter of consent versus legitimate interest.  Certainly in the B2B space marketers are broadly deciding that they are going to argue legitimate interest for most, if not all, of their marketing and business development data processes.  For those panicking that they've not started or are not far enough forward in the process, the good news is that there are a few basic things you MUST do before the end of May to comply and having a clear definition of what your legal basis for processing data is one of them.  If you've not already done so, I strongly recommend reading the ICO guidance as it's crystal clear and very helpful.  42 days and counting....
